El día de ayer, Hollywood acaba de celebrar una de las fiestas más grandes del cine, la entrega de los premios Oscar 2010. El film "En tierra hostil" dio la sorpresa de la noche llevándose los premios más importantes superando así a su anunciado rival Avatar, al parecer la academia decidió perdonar al coproductor del film y no sancionar al film triunfador de la noche.

En tierra hostil de Katrin Bigelow se llevó seis de las nueve nominaciones entre los que encontramos Mejor Película, Mejor Dirección, Mejor Guión, Mejor Montaje, Mejor Edición, y Mejor Mezcla de Sonido.

Uno de los grandes favoritos era el film de James Cameron, Avatar, pero finalmente solo consiguió 3 estatuillas doradas otorgadas por Mejor Dirección Artística, Mejores Efectos Visuales y Mejor Fotografía.

El gran duelo Bigelow y Cameron claramente fue ganado por Bigelow quien acaba de convertirse en la primera mujer en toda la historia del cine que se lleva a casa el premio a Mejor Dirección.
